The cows by a river in this painting had been walking and
grazing along the river bank for a while. As they stopped to
rest, I decided to include them in the composition for this landscape painting of the River Wharfe in North Yorkshire.

The brown and white cows add colour to this image of summer greens, but they also became the focal point in the finished painting of this Wharfedale landscape.
