This cockerel is keeping a wary eye on the farmyard geese as
he carefully walks around them on his way through the orchard.

Farming scenes such as this painting of cockerels and geese
in an old orchard are amongst my favourites. They are a great opportunity to include old farm machinery like this old hay rake which has not been used for many years, except by the farm hens who often use its rusting iron framework as a roost.
