The
above paintings are are all oils on either board or canvas,
and usual sizes are from 6 x 8 to 10 x 14 inches for paintings
on boards,
and 12 x 16 to 18 x 24 inches for paintings on canvas. The
boards are first prepared with 3 coats of artists acrylic gesso
primer,
using loose and random brush strokes to create a textured surface
to paint upon. Canvas is usually oil, or sometimes acrylic
primed linen, with a medium weave or texture. Both boards and
canvases
are usually given a mid tone wash of weak Burnt Sienna, which
often shows through beneath any loosely applied brushstrokes,
giving
an overall harmony.
The
oil paints used for all the paintings are Winsor & Newton
' Griffin' Alkyds, artists quality fast drying oil colours.
